This municipal complex serves as a gateway to Kiawah Island, and the design complements the island’s resort context and aesthetic. A Grand Oak on the site, visible from Council Chambers, inspired the design. Wood louvered slat walls integrated into the design throughout the building filter sunlight in much the same way as dappled light filtering through the island’s oak trees.
