The design-build, 144,576-square-foot WIT Barracks Complex accommodates 240 soldiers recuperating from injuries sustained in combat. Each facility consists of two apartment style floorplans. The first provides sixty 1,350-square-foot 2-bedroom, 2-bath apartments with a shared kitchen, living room and laundry room. The second floor plan offers sixty 1,060-square-foot, 2-bedroom, 1-bath apartment with a shared kitchen. Ten percent of the rooms are Americans with Disabilities Act compliant, which means features such as countertops, bathrooms, cabinets and equipment will be easily accessible for a person in a wheel chair.

The WIT Complex includes a Battalion Headquarters, Soldier Family Assistance Center, Healing Gardens with Wheelchair Obstacle Course and walled trellis. The WIT Barracks match the style, proportion and materials of existing housing facilities and are symmetrical and designed in the character and these of the installation. As the “Southern Living Station of Choice”, the architectural style of the installation is reminiscent of the southern colonial revival style. White columns and gabled roof elements create porches that the entries into the buildings. The project includes Comprehensive Interior Design (CID) and site infrastructure development to include site grading, utilities, roads and parking. The project is LEED Gold certified.
