Aloft Charleston Crosstown Three Graces BarCharleston, SC This alluring design for a rooftop bar in Charleston, SC seeks to provide the unexpected. Envisioned as a “cocktail garden” with panoramic skyline views, the space creates a dynamic processional sequence which moves from compressed corridors to expansive lounges. Inviting arched doorways entice patrons to explore the varied niches and gathering areas united by a common aesthetic. A palette of midnight blue, antique brass, and pale peony contrasts with lush green accents at the bar area and corridors. The interplay of light and shadow, curves and lines, and hard and soft textures adds visual interest, encouraging guests to slow their pace and explore. The overall effect is timeless and sophisticated, with a bit of whimsy. The sculptural back bar illuminates bottles in niches with organic shapes, and the coffered ceiling in the sky lounge is inspired by foliage. Tapered arches leading into the private lounge reflect the more intimate experience of the space, while niches are framed with trellis-like wooden elements. The juxtaposition of materiality, scale, and texture creates an experience that leaves your reinvigorated with the curiosity of a secret garden.
