This building contains two separate but interrelated functions for a church/school campus. The church needed space for youth ministries, and the school needed space for athletics activities. The programmatic challenge was to create a clear identity for each function, while allowing sharing of spaces between the two. The budget challenge was to provide maximum space within tightly limited resources. The design solution was to utilize the cost effectiveness of two interconnected pre-engineered metal buildings, while breaking up the simple overall massing at the key entry points to engage the users with an openness that transcends the typical big box structure.
