Karen Belcher Presents at ULI Development 360
As part of Urban Land Institute’s continuous efforts to engage, educate and connect young leaders in the CRE industry, Development 360 is a six-month long program where YLG members (35 and under) are selected from across the industry to hear from experts and learn about all aspects of the design and development life cycle. The cohort is typically a mix of young developers, building owners, brokers, engineers and other industry professionals.
Representing LS3P, Karen Belcher spoke to the group about the design process and our role as Architects in the greater life cycle of development and in the industry. We included a little “Design Game” using Lego blocks where groups were able to get their hands into the design process for themselves and realize some of the many challenges we face as a design team.
The group also got a glimpse at the Raleigh Office’s Advanced Manufacturing Training Facility (AMTF) and how our team helped to guide the design process for a seamless, and successful project delivery! We also got the chance to show off some of our models and 3D Detail “Mockups” to help illustrate the ways we are using the latest technology and digital fabrication techniques to fail faster in design and sharpen our focus on critical elements earlier in the design process.
