The Albemarle Corporation, a specialty chemical company, relocated its corporate headquarters to Charlotte in 2016 to improve access to international travel and a wider talent pool. The fast-growing company quickly outgrew its original space; LS3P assisted the company in planning for future growth, selecting a new space, and designing a vibrant new interior which fosters collaboration and accommodates an evolving workforce.

The design team incorporated the company’s established standards for the six-floor office space, which included four floors of open work environments, formal and informal collaboration areas, employee break areas and other amenities, visitor spaces, and a conference center. Diverse workspaces support a variety of work flows and encourage “creative collisions” among coworkers. The warm, hospitable interior design includes contrasting inlaid area rugs with hardwood floors, eye-catching contemporary lighting, and glass partitions which create a sense of transparency.

The project is targeting a LEED® Gold Commercial Interiors certification.
