Albemarle CorporationCharlotte, NC The Albemarle Corporation, a specialty chemical company, relocated its corporate headquarters to Charlotte and now occupies 47,060 SF on two floors in the 10-story Capitol Towers at Carnegie Office Building. LS3P provided interior design services to upfit the first generation space and create a new vibrant workplace to attract and retain talent. Albemarle adapted to an open work environment populated with collaboration areas and amenities including a game room. These spaces not only allow associates to work in different environments, but encourage “creative collisions” among coworkers. The interior space was designed to be warm and hospitable. Hard wood floors begin at the elevator lobby and run throughout the reception and down the stair into the café space. This connection between formal greeting and informal gathering sets the tone of the overall office. In-laid area rugs provide softness and contrast against the wood floors. Vibrant LED lighting streaks across the ceiling in contrast to the more natural materials below. All spaces are minimally separated by glass partitions. This transparency not only applies aesthetically but also physically. Interior offices do not have doors which encourages open dialogue due to reduced barriers. Office areas co-mingle with collaborative areas featuring intuitive connectivity for information sharing. Collaborative areas with exposed ceilings and floating acoustical clouds delineate group work from focus work. RECOGNITIONS: 2016 Charlotte Business Journal Heavy Hitters Commercial Real Estate Awards; LEED® Commercial Interiors Gold level certification.
