Church of the ResurrectionLutherville, MD Church of the Resurrection is an Anglican congregation located outside of Baltimore. Though the congregation has a long heritage in the Episcopal and Anglican church, the church has experienced growth through outreach and conversion in recent years. Building plans include a new sanctuary that seats 310 on the main floor and 50 in the balcony; the choir loft also includes accommodations for a full pipe organ. The church desired an inspiring, inviting, and reverent space to enhance their worship as a community of believers. The sanctuary is traditional and timeless, yet also light and open to welcome newcomers. In the apse at the rear of the main sanctuary, an intimate chapel seats up to 30 people and can be used for prayer and small services. For a congregation in which communing as a church family is vital, a central building presents a clear ‘front door’ to the church, and functions as a gracious lobby and narthex where everyone will cross paths before and after worship services. This space also doubles as a full fellowship hall that can be used for something as formal as a seated dinner for 200 people. The second level includes a grand meeting room, a choir suite, resource library, and a full administrative suite that overlooks the fellowship hall below. The first floor of the education building houses nursery and Sunday school spaces that can also be used for a pre-school program throughout the week. The arrangement of buildings on the campus forms a welcoming courtyard that allows for fellowship to occur outdoors during beautiful weather.
