Lake James State Park Visitor CenterNebo, NC The Lake James State Park Visitor Center project encompasses a welcome and resource center, a new accessible trail, a steel and concrete pedestrian bridge, and an informal outdoor classroom/amphitheater. The single-story building features a large exhibit hall, retail space, two meeting/classrooms, administrative suite, public restrooms, and building service spaces. The building sits on a ridge overlooking Lake James, and serves as the trail head for the accessible path to the new bridge spanning a narrow cove just north of the visitor center. The project also includes a 225-car parking lot and access drive.
