The renovations at Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church were part of a comprehensive interior renovation project that focused on three main areas: updating the traditional sanctuary, converting the existing fellowship hall into a modern worship space, and
providing cohesive lobby spaces to seamlessly connect through the heart of the campus.
In the traditional sanctuary, painting the exposed interior brick and applying new finishes freshens and brightens the oldest room on the campus. All new lighting and audio systems enhance the worship space and bring it up to modern standards.
To create a permanent modern worship space, the existing fellowship hall has been transformed to an all-new life. Though for years the fellowship hall has been set-up and torn-down on a weekly basis to house contemporary worship, it now functions as a purpose-built space with a permanent stage, new audio-visual systems, and much improved acoustics. All new finishes tie the space together with the rest of the campus.
Without adding any new square footage, the lobby spaces look and feel immensely more spacious and connected. An old church library was opened up to create a café and gathering area adjacent to the traditional sanctuary. A cohesive palette of colors and interior finishes bring together a series of spaces from different buildings that were originally constructed decades apart. The result is a fresh and unifying gathering space that allows much more fellowship to occur.
