Advanced Planning

In 2016, A Regional Readiness Center (RRC) study and prototype design was developed. The Morganton project was identified as the first of seven sites to receive a new regional readiness center ‘HUB.’ LS3P was selected to assist the NCNG in advanced planning for the Morganton Regional Readiness Center. The design team worked with the NCNG to develop an array of conceptual designs based on all Owner Requirements. Meetings and a design charrette were held to develop an array of conceptual designs based on three courses of action (COA) identified by the owner.

“This project included the implosion of a 16-story prison facility during the Covid Pandemic. Many unique challenges during demolition and construction were handled with exceptional speed and quality by the LS3P team. The relationship with the Owner, Architect and Contractor was always professional that never diverged from the goal of keeping the project on time and within budget. Throughout the project, NCNG leadership requested numerous changes that were met with a genuine desire to make the changes without excessive cost. The end result is an extraordinary facility that NC National Guard leadership now uses as the standard for all future projects. This could not have been achieved without the exceptional LS3P team.”
