Morrocroft was Charlotte’s first mixed-use infill development on a 178-acre tract within the Charlotte suburban area of SouthPark designed in the 1990s. The master planned development incorporates single-family residential, retail, office, institutional and medical uses into the fabric of an existing neighborhood. The specialty retail consists of 120,000 SF of various retail uses such as restaurants, art galleries, clothing shops and jewelers, including the 60,000 SF flagship Harris Teeter grocery store. The three, 4-story, 100,000 SF office buildings comprise Morrocroft Centre and visually dominate the site. Two, 3-level parking decks are situated discretely within the campus and connect to the office buildings via covered walkways.
LS3P was recently engaged to update Morrocroft Centre. Renovations began by opening up Morrocroft 2’s lobby into a brighter, free flowing space. By incorporating back painted glass and walnut wood panels on the walls with warm-toned stone floors, the lobby still fits the classic nature of the original design in a more clean, modern way. LS3P also created a new amenities center and property management office in Morrocroft 3. Construction and design are currently underway for the renovations of Morrocroft 1’s lobby and the central plaza.
