Riverland Hills Baptist Church

Modern Worship + Lobby

After partnering together on previous successful projects, Riverland Hills Baptist Church engaged LS3P to design for the continued growth of their church. This latest phase includes a new lobby, a contemporary worship venue, as well as education and support spaces.

The lobby and atrium space provide a new face and front door to the church. Everyone arriving on a Sunday morning enters into this central hub, which allows for the many members of this large congregation to intersect and interact with one another. This space took their existing exterior courtyard (that has limited use due to weather), and enclosed the space to create a spectacular ‘indoor courtyard’ that can be used year-round. The space is filled with carefully controlled natural light that drops in from clerestory windows above, and is popular for all sorts of special events.

The new state-of-the-art worship center gives a permanent home for the church’s contemporary worship service that had for years been located in the church’s gym, which required setting up and tearing down on a weekly basis. The auditorium uses a carefully constructed elliptical seating layout that brings 1200 people together in worship
