This renovation and addition for UNCW’s Randall Library focuses on connectivity, visibility, and the user experience. The design provides better access to student services with a one-stop shop model, and the building serves as a campus hub and recruitment tool.
Major design goals included doubling the existing seat count, integrating technology-rich spaces throughout the library, creating appropriate space for Special Collections, and providing an efficient workflow for staff. A new café provides gathering and work areas as well as refreshment, and an event space adjacent to library exhibits helped to expand opportunities for engagement. The project was phased to allow the facility to remain operational throughout the construction process.
