The 126,867 SF two-story facility is a replacement school for the existing Wellford Academy, accommodating up to 900 students to help alleviate the unprecedented growth in the area. The modern, efficient, and environmentally responsible design evolved from its rich agricultural context while simultaneously embracing the rise of manufacturing along the I-85 corridor through form, material, and program. As a family of facilities in the district, the elementary school is a sister to Abner Creek Middle School and Tyger River Elementary School, and as such, shares similar aesthetics. LS3P is happy to continue working for Spartanburg District 5 to help them achieve their vision and goal of, “Every Child, Every Day”.
