LS3P was hired to design the first office building in Westrock (MeadWestvaco) Nexton development. The building sets the standard for this 4,000 true mixed-use live/work environment and sits prominently at the main entrance and dominates the view from the neighboring interstate highway. The 375, 000 SF LEED® Gold commercial office building is the headquarters for MWV Development operations in the Carolinas and is a joint venture between MWV and the New York based Rockefeller Group. The building design typifies the design of this new community – a blend of the old south and new technology. The brick piers, crafted of hand-made materials, soar to three stories are starkly contrasted with a taut curtainwall facade that seems to slip past the brick frames. The major overhanging roof wing opens to the sky to recall the haight blue of typical Charleston porches – a welcoming sight to guests and family.
